COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPIST
MEET MARIE
Hi, I'm Marie Sarte and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. I have been practicing in Oakland in outpatient clinics, community mental health, and in my private practice for the past 20 years. I received my master's degree in social work from The University of Chicago in Clinical Practice in 2003. My career spans over 25 years of experience working with teenagers and young adults with high mental health needs. My flexible Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach, youthful appearance, and open communication style have been assets that have enabled me to effectively engage and assist countless young people reach their mental health goals.
My practice specializes in working with teenagers and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, family and relationship issues, substance use, and life transitions. Based on a trusting professional relationship, I strive to work together to help you resolve the issues for which you have sought therapy. I believe that everyone has a unique life story to tell.
Looking for a therapist is a very personal decision. Oftentimes you don't know whether you've found the right therapist until you've met in person and it just "feels right" to you. I know firsthand that it is so important to find not only a skilled, nonjudgmental therapist, but also a compassionate person who you feel comfortable opening up to who you feel truly 'gets' you. Choosing the right Cognitive Behavioral Therapist can sometimes feel overwhelming and confusing so I want to help you make this important decision and feel at ease about scheduling your initial appointment with me. I encourage you to check out my approach, areas of specialization, and client feedback about what it's like to work with me. I look forward to taking this next step with you in your life journey.
