MY APPROACH
Whatever your reason is for coming to therapy, I will help you figure out what it is about your current way of being and living your life is keeping you from reaching your full potential so that you can live more freely and experience a greater sense of fulfillment in your life.
My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as I believe that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are shaped by our early life experiences in our families, communities, and society. We are continuously influenced by these life experiences, our relationships, and the meaning we try to make from these experiences. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a goal-oriented therapy that focuses on changing negative patterns of thinking and feeling that are behind your difficulties, while simultaneously learning essential skills to better manage your emotions and deal with various problems and situations you may encounter. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is highly effective in treating a range of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Many clients find my approach to be empowering as it offers a proactive way to make sense of and eventually take control of the problems they face.
My therapeutic approach integrates relational, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-focused therapy from a harm reduction perspective. Working together, I will help you define and work toward your goals to resolve your concerns in the most effective way possible. This approach is premised on building a trusting professional relationship with my clients. My collaborative approach and years of experience working with various racial and cultural groups set me apart.
